my brother brought a blue 16v about a week ago i was just wondering if any1 knows what the oil pressure should be,his runs at about 3-4 when cold, then goes right down to 0 when idleing when warm,his engine sounds heathy is this right?? my oil pressure is so much higher than his about 5 when cold and about 2 when idleing warm whos is right?

depends on the viscosity (spelling?) of the oil in ya engines

both just changed the oil. magnetic 15/40w

when warm (80 deg C) at 1000rpm minimum of 1.2 bar.

@ 3000rpm minimum of 3.5 bar

This is a temperate climate so a 15W50 or anything with a final 50 weight should be run really.

would ave thought theyd be near enough the same at running temp then, obviously acounting for engine wear and the amounts of oil actually in ya engine

mine has done 25,000 more miles than his and my pressure is alot higher,is mine healther then?

is he runing something like a 5w30?

exactly the same,i changed mine about a month ago and he done his yesturday,i helped him do the horrible filter 2, magnetec 15/40w

If its drastically different than this ur in trouble, but if when u start it up and the tappet noise disapears after a second then ur fine cause ur pumps working. Should hit nearly 6 bar when a very cold start, mine does anyway.

mine sounds ok then,his is very low,at idle it just drops to 0 and the highest i have seen it on is about 3-4,i go in it all the time,his oil temp goes to about 110 mine sits around 80 ??? any ideas? has he got a problem?

My oil pressure would hover around 1bar on idle with 5w/50 oil; now it idles at about 0.4bar with 10w/50 oil.

Mines just under 1 bar on idle and usually around the 5 - 6 bar when driving a bit hard. If in a 30 zone for example in 4th its about 4 bar .

Nick Hill commented that it had very nice oil pressure last weekend when I went down to Hill Power...!

In 4th doin 30mph urs is at 4 bar?

I think most will be around 2 bar.

Mine sits at just under 2 when cold when you rev it to 3k it goes upto 3 bar.
