17’s on new shape ’99 clio

Do 17s fit straight on a 1999 1.2 clio Grande without archwork, if so can i get it dropped 40 - 60 mm without mods?

Will 17s affect the timing and therefore make the speedo lie?

Yes they will fit on and a 60mm will be ok i think but it will rub on full lock so you should remove the wheelarch liners.

It will be dog slow and the speedo will lie.

about 1 sec to 60mph the speedo is already inaccurate, so dont worry about it, mine seems fine

My speedos really far out now, cos theres a camera near me in a 50 zone, and everyone always slows to exactly 50mph, but now when I slow to traffic speed my clocks showing 43mph!!! This would suggest that its now about 15% out!! Ive yet to check it properly though. As for the slowness, I was racing a standard 1.2 16v yesterday and he was noticeably quicker. Probably does add about a second on the 0-60, right enough. Maybe even more. But its worth it for the looks.
