172/182 first MOT'S

  LY 200
So how many failed on there first go then??

Mine's going in tomorrow and im wondering how it's gonna get on. It's only on 22k and i think i look after it fairly well.....Alway's sat in a garage during week, warmed up before any hard driving etc.

Im expecting it to go through as my old valver/hybrid managed two passes side by side no prob's but i suppose different car and all that so that may mean diddly. Lol

My 172's 3rd mot, my first ever mot on a car passed no bother even although I knew it had problems so depends how awake the tester is imo all fixed now

First one passed,
Second one failed due to brakes being seized on, it required a strip and clean before they passed it.

^^^It did mate thank fook........I was abit worried on the front tyres and the brakes but the tester said he didnt even have anything to report.

Weight off my shoulders is that for another year.

Lol at this thread, why were you worrying it would fail?

Its a practically new car, with nothing wrong with it... so long as you check the tyres and brakes, what did you expect it to fail on?

thanks kully sept it is then

If your car is still under manufacturers warranty then i'd take back to the dealers , go around august time , it cost me 40 quid for the mot back in november but the point is you could claim for warranty work if it fails .

My 172 failed its 2nd MOT on a seized front brake caliper , brake imbalance they call it . Total b*llocks . There was fcuk all wrong with the brakes . They also gave me a list of things that needed doing that came to the grand total of £484 . Rip off merchants imo .

That was at Nationwide autocentre / Halfords . I think they just expected to me to cough up the money . I told em to fcuk off , took the car home , greased the piston in the caliper and it passed the retest ;)

1 Front brake caliper £105.00
1 set of new front brake pads £75.00 ( even though there was almost 7mm left on each pad )
1 set of rear brake pads £74.00 ( even though these were almost new )
1 set of rear brake discs £ 230.00

My first thought was the same when Renault told me it failed because the brakes seized. I just assumed they were trying to milk me of my hard-earned cash, so I asked to be shown. They stuck it up on the ramp, he tried spinning the front wheels and they were clearly being resisted by something. So fair enough I thought. Alright it would have been cheaper to do it myself, but I couldn't be fucked!
