172 Alarm

  Clio 172 Ph2

Im sure I cant be the only dumbass in the world who keeps setting the alarm off!

Im afraid of filling up in the petrol station because it always bloody goes off. Not what you need when loads of people in done up cars are watching you!

I get the feeling it locks / arms itself if you leave it unlocked for long enough.

When I go to fill up, I get out, close the door, fill up, lock it, pay, unlock it, open door - alarm goes off.

Its really starting to bug me now! Perhaps I should lock it before I fill up?! Perhaps my alarm is just screwed?!

Its only every happened to me once and that was because I opened the door just as I disarmed it. If you disarm, then open the door its ok. Mine anyway. I do what you do, get out, fill up, lock car, pay, come back, unlock car and get in. All ok. I would wait 1 second before opening the door after pressing the button, if this IS the case then I would take it to Renault for them to sort out.

Im so paranoid now, i make a point of waiting a few seconds before opening the door just to rule the oh I was too quick thing out!

Does you alarm go off if you unlock the car and leave the door open - like when cleaning it out and stuff?

I dont want to have to leave the engine running when I strip out the dash at the weekend!

Just pause before opening the door after disarming the alarm. If you unlock the car but dont open any doors then the alarm will lock and re-arm after a set time. So as long as you have a door open you shouldnt need to worry when you are taking the dash off. If the alarm keeps going off after you have disarmed it and waited for the flashing led to stop flashing then you have a problem!

RB, If I disarm the car and open a door the alarm will never be rearmed and therefore cannot be set off. So if you disarm, open door and after a while your alarm goes off then something is wrong.

Personally, if youre not happy, pop down to your local Renault dealership and show them the problem.
