172 Alternator Interchangable with, say Laguna

I've had a little bracket break on my alternator and this caused the belt to shear off the pullet. Before I go and torment my local breakers, is the 172 (Ph1) alternator the same as any other mainstream Renaults?

Output is 14V, Valeo Nos A13VI259 2542354A, Renault no 7700 436671.

I would go play the lottery personally. If the belt come off with the engine running and it didn't take the cambelt with it then you are very very very lucky! No idea about the original question though.

did you find out if the laguna alternator was compatible??? I am having the same exact problem here thanx.

Laguna alternator (1.8 8v F3P engine) physically fits, and works, but some wiring is different.

i use a 172 alternator on my valver brackets so should work other way round
