172 Arches

  The Jinx

I asked this elsewhere but it got a bit lost.

Does the 172 have just the front arches flared, or are the rears as well. Just noticed that the shells on the pictures thread implied it was only the fronts.

If so, anyone know how much they are?

How are they different? Having analysed those in the piccies thread the rear arches look exactly the same. As far as I can see they just put different bumpers on, a different mesh in the grill, and skirts.

As far as I am aware, the rear arches are the same as on the other models in the range. The track is wider than standard clios both front and rear, but only the front ones are flared.

That would tie in with the production line piccies, as the first one suggests that standard bodies are arriving at the 172 line and then have all the bits added.

  Clio 1.6 16V

The rear arches are rolled compared to the standard. just checked the 1.6 Dyn and the 172 arches. Otherwise the rear quarter panels look identical

What they should have done, is made the bodystyling more wild.. much like the flared arches all round, and the bonnet vent found on the Valver and Williams.. but they didnt..

I can always spot a 172/Cup now, but if I see a Dynamique in the distance, I always hang about until it gets closer to see if its a 172. I waited ages once, and then this little old woman went past in her 1.4 16v.. Gutted.

Daz.

You would need the font bumper, grill, two wings and inner acrchesand two side skirts to create a 172 front. Not sure it would look right on a standard clio as the wheels would sit too far inside the arch???

Yeah, I was quoted for a 172 look conversion a few moths back by a garage based in Leeds. £1100 bought a full bodyconversion with front and rear bumpers, replacement wings, inner arches and side skirts, plus all colour-coding (spoiler, bumper inlays, etc.) and fitting. The price was to convert a base-model Clio though, as it included twin optic lights and fogs. Wasnt really that interested in getting one, Im not out to impersonate a 172, I was just interested in what would need changed.
