172 Cup at 18

Having had to wait a couple of years for my 172 in the end im glad i did. The experience I have gained in this time has taught me alot of things. Im 21 now and tbh mate if i was you i would buy a less powerful car, get some experience on the road then in a couple of years get something more powerful, also the insurance will be alot less.

Youll laugh at this but ive gone from a valver down to a 60bhp 1.2 and i love it. Dont get me wrong, its not at all fast but its cheap to run/insure and i find i dont get nearly as stressed behind the wheel. Ive also got more money to other things which is fantastic.

If i were you id ask myself if i really need a 172...i mean at 18 i had plenty of other things i wanted to spend my money on.

OK, total newbie here but I have been looking into getting a 172/182 as my next car. The best insurance quotes I have found for both are from Directline. I will be 21 from 19th July this year and so I am taking my insurance from that date and I get a quote of £1,184 for a 182. This is with zero no claims bonus, 3+ years driving and 21yo.

I know Norwich Union wont insure me until Im 25 on both those cars. And funnily enough Directline couldnt insure me on an ST170 unless I had 2 years no claims bonus.

Rich :)

I had one when I was 19. With hindsight I shoudnt have bought it - but thats a personal opinion.
