172 Cup, drivers car?

  Titanium 182
Are they all that.

Never driven one yet, but everyone seems to think I would have more fun in one of these then my 182.

I honestly cant see them being that more involving, correct me if am wrong.

  B/G 182 + PH1 Track
No ABS and Slightly lighter.

Makes very little difference.

As much as i like the Cup, id prefer the Trophy. But then again the 200 is awesome :p

Only time i think they would be more involving is in the rain as I find myself thinking further ahead than when I drive my other car which has TC and ABS.

  172 - 249bhp @ the wheels
if you want a more involved and fun drive then you'll need to look at a Mk1, or a proper old school hatch, like a 205gti or XR2 etc etc

I don't think it makes much difference either, I think it is more a mental thing. I find myself thinking about breaking more in the Cup, when I shouldn't really need too.

I've very rarely had ABS kick in on any car i've owned, and shouldn't be bothered about the lack of it on a small, light car.

Aye it was originally called the 172 Placebo edition but Cup has more of a ring to it ;)

If they had did the 172 with all the toys in Mondial blue i'd have bought one TBH. It was the colour which swayed me to the Cup.

Aye its a great colour, i love them tbh but i hate the stigma that people think on here about it being some form of super car. Great cars, absolutley!

I love them with the Recaro's aswell, really suits them

Aye I never understood that either. 172 with lightweigh wheels and a light drive or a standard Cup and a chubby driver pretty much equal the same car! Apart from one has toy and the other is poverty spec lol.

I've just brought myself a Cup and TBH I'm still learning about all the different models etc.

The reason I went for the 172 Cup was that I preffered the colour and wheels over the std 172. I'm not a great lover of the 2 exhausts on the 182 and as I'll be changing the front seats for Recaro's ASAP I wasn't fussed about the leather.

It is an awesome drivers car imo. I've not driven a 182 or std 172 so couldn't say whether there was any difference at all. I'm just very very impressed with it!

If you drove a 172, I'd have said the Cup does feel marginally more sprightly and fleet-footed and *might* be worth changing for.

Having never driven a 182 I can't comment re: comparisons, but I imagine there'd be a fractional differences. A 182 is £1k+ more to buy, so that seems to be the only reason to sell - as you say, to pocket the difference.

I went for a Cup because maintenance costs are more sensible - without air conditioning - and 172 colours are pretty unexceptional IMO.

I'm happy, but in the big scheme of things, it's no legend...

Aye don't get me wrong it's a great wee car, I love mine and have no regrets in getting one over a model with all the toys. Some folk do seem to think they are the be all and end all of hot hatches though.

I've owned both & the cup offered far more for me. Felt more sprightly, noisier, quicker, obviously no 'helping hands' to save you. Overall a 'truer' drivers car imho.

182 was far better at motorway work though & obviously more toys to play with. I prefered the 172 cup by quite a distance tbh :D

The Cup was also a bit cheaper, which may have swayed a few people. Did for me. You can't argue with having a lighter version of a car to sharpen it up.

I would say more so a drivers car oposed to the 172. But there are many other cars which are more 'drivers car' than the cup.

I had a 306 GTi6 before the cup, and the rallye was 'the one to have'. I always felt better having the half leather, the electric windows and the air con which the rallye didn't have.

When I was looking for a clio I decided I wanted to go for the one with less toys. Main reason being the styling. If I had a 172, I would have wanted a cup spoiler on it, the turinis, and the colour. So the cup made sense.

Was my first car without ABS. Not a problem IMO. I have noticed in bad conditions that it can catch you out if like me you are used to being able to slam on the anchors. But you get used to it.
