172 Cup - engine squeal/squeak over 6k

Hi,

Picked up my 172 Cup yesterday and can already tell it's going to be great fun to run.:D

I've started picking up on things that I want to look into though; the first being a squeaking/squealing noise (fan belt stylee) at over 6,000rpm.

It only does it at full throttle - if I pull it past 6k using part throttle, it doesn't do it.

Has anyone any ideas? I know it's really difficult to diagnose engine noises without hearing them first hand - just wondering if anyone has experienced similar - ?

Failing that, can anyone recommend a good specialist in the South West!?

Thanks:)

Thanks

It's a '52 with 30k on the clock, so is due. I wondered if it might be cam belt related.

I'll be easing off somewhat until I can have someone listen to it and give me a firm diagnosis.

It came from a dealer so I've the statutory three month warranty. Will look into it ASAP and see what needs to be done. Typical luck!

Yep most likly Belt under renault service rules should be done at 5 years or 72k whichevers first so IMO get it done ASAP.
