172 Cup Exhaust

  Clio 200 Cup
Im looking for a Stainless Stel exhaust system for my 172 Cup but I want it to remain completely hidden just like the standard system.

Any ideas?

Also, am I right in thinking Renault are the only people selling standard exhausts? I rang Thick Fit earlier in the week for a quote and they didnt list an exhaust for my car, same story at several other places.

I had a stainless cat back on my 172 from Powerflow in Burnley .It was £270 fabricated and fitted . It was an identical copy of the original Renault exhaust .

ooops, sorry didnt read your response properly - "it was an identical copy of the standard exhaust"

Do they now do this system off the shelf or would I have to take my car along for the system to be fabricated?

Thanks again

there are quite a few stelath systems on the market nowadays , try the big boys like gdi , ktec , yozzasport as well as prospeed .

This is my stealth from Pro-speed...they'll make it up for you piece by piece for your car. It has a nice sound too...better than standard.

Website is www.pro-speedexhausts.com

They are based in Cardiff...but in my personal opinion....worth the trek down there. (and I did it with ½ an exhaust on the way there!)

You'll have to go along and they fabricate it and fit it while you wait . I was originally only booked in for a new back box , so i asked how much for a full cat back and could they do it there and then . 90 mins later it was all sorted .I can't vouch for the work of other powerflow outlets , but your name implies that your from Skipton so its not that far away from Burnley if you are .

thansk for the advice, I'll get phoning around tomorrow. Ive had a look under my car today and the whole system looks ropey - gutted because Ive only owned it a week!

that pro-speed stealth system looks tasty - would the car be offensively loud without the center box? Im thinking about having a cat back system made but without the center silencer.

Bad idea?

The pro-speed can be made exactly how you'd like...stealth, cut through the exhaust, etc. The systems that they do are Cat-back. The centre silencer should be there, without it...I think it would be too loud, especially as the Cup has less soundproofing than the 172FF!

My exhaust makes a nice sound, it takes a little while to get used to after standard...but its not too intrusive when using the car sensibly...and when you open it up...makes you smile! ;) :approve:

Nice one for all the advice, I was really worried when I thought I was gonna have to go bend over at the local Renault dealer parts desk! :S

Im probably gonna go to Powerflow in Burnley seeing as they arent too far away (Im near Warrington) and I'll defo get them to fit a center silencer!

Just looked on the Powerflow website - they seem to have loads of outlets including one in Warrington - are they all the same or am I best sticking to the Burnley branch?

Also, is the Burnley place TOP GEAR Northwest Ltd ?

Cheers,

Kev

I don't know how good they are...I think it varies from outlet to outlet. If you get a recommendation, then try and get that person to do yours. The problem is that its a gamble. Whatever you get should be better than standard in terms of longevity (although my standard exhaust lasted 58K just over 3 years!)

The problem is we all know who we'd recommend because of our personal experiences with said company...I can only comment on Pro-speed and standard...I can't knock another company's product as I've never used it, but (same as everyone else) I can tell you if my experience with a company was good or bad.

If you are going for powerflow then speak to Mr-billy who mentioned them earlier in this thread...get his recommendations. :)

I apreciate all the advice, the place in burnley was recommended and is 2 hours nearer but failing that Id definately be off to cardiff.

How long does the standard cat tend to last on these cars?

The cat isn't normally the problem. Its the backbox...the design isn't the best (suppose its because the car is made at a cost) it always fails just infront of the backbox because the pipe corrodes! replacing it just means it will go again...and looking at the 182s it looks like they have the potential to go the same way.

I think someone like Fred would be best placed to answer that...he knows Renaults inside out.

Burnley Powerflow is also called Top Gear . They will try on different back boxes for you until you are happy with the sound . I'd definitely use them again and a couple of other people have had a similar good experience there . As said above . You get good and bad Powerflow outlets , it depends how good the guys who make the exhausts are .

Had a full stainles stealthy catback system fitted at Burnley Powerflow today. Top Job, £275 all in and it only took an hour and a half. Tidy waiting room to sit in reading through a stack of mags. Cheers for the recommendation! :)

Does any one know if K tech and Yozza sport make there own exhausts or are they fished out to companies like piper??? Or if they gas flow them to get the best designs and bends. Or Do they do a powerflow job where they make it roughly look the same as the original and give you any sound, tail pipe ect ect ect u like??
