172 cup glass transplant to a non cup

  phase 1 172

cup glass is supposedly lighter / thinner.
probably a shitty job though, hate doing windows.

It is thinner. But really what's the point? For a road car you won't notice the difference. if it's a race car and you want to save as much weight as possible, go for poly windows

I could be interested in the cup glass all round depending where you are?

go take a dump before you drive the car and it'll have 500% more impact to the weight of the vehicle.

it's your car, do what you want.
it'll make little difference on a road car, but if you plan on tracking it or pushing more performance from it, losing as much weight as possible is always a good starting point.

it was just a brainwave-once the aircons bypassed this week (assuming i can find some spacers suitable) im pretty much stumped for any gains without going cams or turbo route

5kg lighter glass on the cup vs non cup. Quite a big difference when i checked between the sets i have in the garage.

Amazed its that much!

Glass weight is very high up too, which is what effects handling the most, 5kg up there is worth double that lower down.

(although I still wouldnt bother personally on a road car, and would go poly for a track car I was trying to make light)
