172 Cup... How Many/When etc

Car  Lotus Elise S1
Howdi folks... am looking at changing my car due to a recent flat purchase and as such Clio 172 is on the list, however i'm not a mad fan of unnecessary extras and weight so the Cup appeals too... they do however seem to cost more!!

Can anyone let me know when they came out, how many were made etc??

TIA.

They shouldn't cost me less than a full fat of simialr spec some people ask more though.
Came out of a 52 plate I think the early ones and there some on an 04 plate but there rare.
1400 or so made from memory.

Excellent, thanks... explains why ther are more than i was finding full fat versions for!

Hmm, is it worth paying more to get less then :D

Oh and a random one, any ideas why i can't post in the for sale forum??

You have to be a member to post there £5 for a year unlimited posts as well as discount etc.

Is it worth it hum depends I'd never pay more for one only less it depends what you want I'd personally go for a full fat even though I do track days as I like abs and the toys ragardles of the speed reduction however minor others don't mind.

Ah, ok explains that... thanks.

The only reason i'd be paying more is i am looking at earlier full fat models (2000 - 2001 models), hence it's more cash. I'm not a fan of ABS etc i do do track days, but probably not in the Clio if i get one!!

Thanks for your help.
