172 cup ht leads

Hi all, ive replaced my cup's ht leads and noticed that the old original ones have a heat sheating on them?
The ones i bought however didnt! will this make an awful lot of difference?

dont remember seeing mine with a heatshield ???

Its like a woven material on each lead???

thinks its more to stop them rubbing on the inlet manifold.
