172 cup suspension on standard 172

  200
Hi guys, i've searched and couldn't find the answer im looking for.

Will a 172 cup suspension fit on my standard 172? If not what would need to be done?

Thanks

What do you mean by a standard 172, is it a ph1 or a ph2? It won't fit straight onto a ph1. I did it to my ph1 and when I drove it round a traffic island for the first time it sounded like an American cop car from the 1970s, all squeals and rubbing noises. The alignment went well out from perfect. I got it adjusted and it was then fine. Having changed it back after two years to standard shocks I'm prefering the non Cup version, it just feels right.

Slightly stiffer shocks and a bit lower due to springs. The main gain of the 172 Cup suspension over the std 172 was the different wheel offset, it made the cars slightly wider (but nothing to set the World alight!).

That was the wheels

;)

Main gain is stiffe poundage, 3mm (lol) lower, and different castor angle.

Someone correct me if im wrong...

But cup shocks have 60mm between the two bottom bolt holes while a normal 172 is 54 mm

Therefore .....no they wont fit
