172 Cup windscreen

  Silver Clio 172 Cup
Evening All

Big stone chip right in the middle of my screen on way to work this morning - aaargh!

Am I right in thinking the 172 Cup has a lighter/thinner screen than the rest of the clios? If so, how do I get my screen replaced on the insurance without them just fobbing me off with the standard heavy version? Anyone had this problem, got part numbers etc? Any decent windscreen fitters who I should use if I get the choice?

Cheers

Tom.

Hmm, my mate is a fitter for RAC and he's aware of the difference.

They might know from the chassis number on their "DVLA like" registration database.

£70 windscreen excess. No idea what the weight difference is, but there's not much point buying a cup and then using unnecessarily lardy parts. Always thought the screen was a bit rubbish though TBH - it's an original Renault one but has a 'wobble' about half way down all the way across when you look carefully. Can get really irritating sometimes!

Ring any good fitment place and they'll supply the rignt one personaly I'd have the heavier and stronger normal one fitted anayw as the Cup windscreen is IMo to subseptable to damage.
Out of curiosity, what is the weight difference between the regular windscreen and the cup one?
Its tiny realy.
Just remove the screen and drive with goggles and a hat.
Rear window will come out.

I have three chips in my screen that need to be repaired. I want to try and avoid getting a new screen replaced and so I'm going to see if the RAC can work their magic in repairing it.

Btw, if windscreens are replaced, how does that affect the automatic light and rain sensor? Obviously, the new screen would need those sensors but is there a chance they will no longer work?

  Better than yours. C*nt.

Yes, but then they have to do it again to fix them.

As for Sat Nav being better on the Cup, that's a load of balls. My sat nav works just fine thanks, I even get a hole in the screen for laser jammers.
