172 Cup

I currently own a renault 5 GT Turbo that I use every day & ive just about had enough of the rattling I am looking to buy a brand new 172 Cup and was just wondering about a few things:

1- You guys must have seen a fair share on the rollers!!! how many actually are 172 bhp? Ive heard a lot of these cars fall well below 172!

2- How easy is it to tune these cars? Chips etc. & what sort of power do they give.

3- Anything I should know about before going to look at one?

Well, I own both an R5 GTT (had two) and a Cup, so Im in a very good position to comment...

To answer your questions:

1 - Yes, we were at a RR day last Sat and standard cars made 172bhp or thereabouts

2 - With a few simple mods (filter, zorst, de-cat, chip, etc...) they respond well.

3 - Do a search on here, its a wealth of information.



You will love a Cup mate, I was driving my GTT last night and Ive now decided to sell it as the Cup is better in many areas.

Depends on the 5 in question...

Standard 5s handle very well, but mine is dropped on Avo coil-overs so handles superbly. Its like a bl00dy go-kart!

Brand new? Havent they stopped making it now? I just got a new ones yesterday but heard they stopped taking orders for cups about a month ago.

Rich how have u got on with your AVOs?
I had em on my mx5 and they where useless. Wrecked the handling.
My friend owns the 5 now and he has binned em!

Seems fine on the 5 to me...



How did you have them setup though?!

Can easily adjust them to f*ck the handling up and get it to do "odd" things.
