172 Cups rule

  Volvo S60 T5
Owning both full fat and a cup I can say having driven my cup for a few days its ***** tastic.
Feels like an animal compared to my FF 172 (not driven properly since TB conversion).
Love the animal feel to the cup and its great:approve:

love the cup but also love the FF one, I think the extra's on the FF are worth it but the cup feels more hardcore

  MKIII 138
had an top quality icesilver 172fullfat bough new at £13.5k new (53 reg) frover 40,000 miles in just 20months ! fitted koni shocks/springs etc.. then bought a 3rd hand (i think) 52 plate cup with 11k on, why you ask ? it was older i had lost £6,000 on the 172 in less than 1yr !

the cup looked better and i knew i had to own one before i moved into sensible land.

it was faster and some !

tommorow i get my 225cup + recaros no way will it live upto the cup its impossible, im gonna say something mad... i drove a lambo murcielargo last year and it wasnt as fun .. oops thats impossible right ??? nup, nothings more thrilling than the fear of the cup can bring.
everyone should own one

Blimey....I didn't know they were that good

I'd like to own one..the only thing I don't like about them is the seats and the lack of xenons.

hey Mike like you to show me the cup as i havent tried one out yet

when i am down in december for my service

  Weeman sucks ****
You should drive mine :)

I drove the EVO mag murcelago in the summer, and without sounding rude...you're talking sh1t...it was warm.

Test drove both, lack of saftey and comfort lost it for me. FF is the better everyday car that you have live with. Plus you can always turn a FF into a cup if you really wanted to.

Don't see the point in using a car which was built for the track on public roads.

Although id love to own a cup just for the hell of it.

  X-172 Cup
can't agree enough with you on this Mike, and it's not a go at the FF 172's either, my Ph1quick was lovely but for sheer driving feel the Cup is the best car I've ever owned...still miss it...:(

The point is if you want to use your car on track it is the better option, plus its arguably more fun on road (standard for standard). And as to turning a FF into a cup, surely your then loosing your extra comfort and percieved safety; so whats the point?

  Iceberg 172
on a side note, a Murcielago was in a queue of traffic on baker st the other day as i was walking along and it sounded like a broken strimmer at low revs. It was awful!

Mike, I'm booked in for tomorrow morning but just realised I don't know the address! Can't find it on the net anywhere, you don't have a website? Might be able to sort one out for you on the cheap. If Mike's not on, does anyone else on here know Rentech's address?

Cheers.

  Turbos.
My cousin has a Cup, i have a FF. Would happily admit that his handles better and is much quicker. As you say, it is more lively and fun. Not very forgiving in the wet though.

When I had my FF 172 I drove y0z2a's Cup a fair bit and agree totally with that. The Cup feels a lot more nimble, especially with quick changes in direction.

It still feels more nimble than the Trophy, though not as pointy. Which showed on track with one of the lads off here. He was quicker during the quick direction changes, the Trophy tucked into the turns better and cornered a little quicker.

Out of all the Clios I've owned and driven the Trophy and the Cup are the better drivers cars, though all of them are excellent cars both on the road and the track.

Yeah I've driven all variants of rsport clios and none feel as nimble and raw as the cup. The 182 cup that my mate had once was crap, felt slow and heavy. The trophy felt nice but heavier.

sm_wrc's is nice but then he's done a lot to it. Saying that, I think there's mixed bunches of cars from the factory, some are slow and some are quick. I think I've been lucky with mine:)

It is the leg-end.
