172 engine bay help.

Can anybody help me? Iv included a pic of my engine bay but I want to know is the arrow pointing at the breather pipe where a breather filter would go? any help would be appreciated. Thanks

so the 90degrees bent plastic pipe that the rubber tube goes onto dp you block that off? also does the breather filter make a performance increase? anybody got any pics of one fitted?
