172 engine mounts

Car  Burgandy 174 sport t
ok I replaced my dog bone and top drivers side mount today, the top mount was shagged but the dog bone looked fine

Anyways it hasnt stopped the vibrating/knocking sound right under neath the gear stick area. I am now starting to think my manifold has been bent when fitting the exhaust (the guy was a bit rough pushin the exhaust on)

I am gonna replace the gearbox mount now aswell.

Any ideas?

Mine isn't knocking in the same place, but kind of got a similar problem. Changed both the above mounts and like yours the dog bone looked OK and the drivers side was buggered. But the knocking noise is still there.

Fred is going to look at it later this week to see if it is one of the other engine mounts.

starting to feel slight knocking when cornering left now so gonna have a look at the ds in the morn

Jus a tip- i fitted k-tecs uprated bushes for the dogsbone7im really impressed, think it only cost me round £40 delivered

I had the same problem on mine, did both the dog bone and top mount by the cambelt and still knocked ended up being a cracked mount support bracket under the battery. The rubber geabox mount attached to it looked fine and it was only when I removed the bracket found that it had cracked. Cost £39 for the bracket and stopped the manifold hitting the cross member. Hope you get it sorted as I know how annoying it is.

yes it is bloody annoying, I will have a look for any cracks when I do that one too then cheers Neal

I've heard on the grape vine, that just replacing them is a little more complicated. Apparently they have to be aligned as well. Otherwise the knocking will continue.

It might be worth enquiring if thats is true or not.
