172 Front Subframes...

Car  3.2 V6 4KEV, 944 Cab, 172
Can anyone kindly confirm 100% whether or not a ph2 172 subframe will fit a ph1 172??

Much appreciated, Cheers, Paul. :D

^^ I am not nervous!!! Only got in at 5.15 :dapprove: , apparently andy has a phone call, we have a breakdown monday aswell!:dapprove: Overtime for you i think!!:rasp:

I've got a feeling there the same or near enough someone ages back fitted a one form a Mk2 phase 1 dci to a Mk2 phase 1 172.

Part numbers dopn't mean it defo dwon't fit since they were strenghtened on later cars.

Thanks Edde. I have been told that a subframe from a 1.2 / 1.4 / 1.6 mk2 ph1 will fit a ph1 172, with a plate to strengthen it and holes drilled for the extra engine mount. I'm not keen on this option.

What I am considering is a ph2 172 subframe - to be fitted to my ph1 172... This will certainly be strong enough, it's just a question of whether it actually fits... I guess it's a case of 'suck it and see'... :S

I have a subframe from a 1.2 16v, its also a ph1.

It work fine, didnt need to drill any extra holes, i haven't bothered to strengthen it, but i was told from a guy who has had his fitted for 3 years and done over 60k.... he didnt say anything about strengthening it, just said it should be fine.
