172 fuel problem

  Clio 172
Hi all
just had an odd problem with my 172 on a 51 plate
drove onto a dual carriage way and booted the car hard and after hitting 6500 rpm the car spluttered and coughed as I changed upto 4th
then the dash lights saying stop and battery light came on
had no choice but to stop as car cut out
it was dark so couldn't see any problem but could smell a strong whiff of petrol
i waited till it got light lifted the bonnet and trying to start the car
then I noticed that fuel was spraying straight up in the air in the engine compartment
when I looked the fuel pipe had come off the fuel rail
i pushed it firmly back into place and hay presto the car fired up
but now it idles at around 1750 rpm
has anyone else had this problem
and how can I get idle speed back to normal

presume its a phase 2 with FBW throttle?

battery off for half hour and back on again tbh and try that. just make sure you have your stereo code to hand.

Possibly an adaptives issue but I'd say it's more likely to be something else like an air leak or electrical issue.

Try the above but if it doesn't work get a proper diagnostic session on it (not a code read session).
