172 has reached 60k...

Hi, my 172 Sport has reached 60k. I was thinking of replacing it with maybe a 197 but still am not sure about the way they looks so have now decided to keep it until the summer.

It's just had a service and is also booked in to have the cam belt done and trackrods replaced (they're seized up). Also I'm getting some new Pilot Exaltos this week :0)

I can feel a bit of engine movement when pulling away in 1st gear. This might be down the tracking or maybe I should get the engine mounts replaced? I have a bit of money to spare and would like to get the car driving like new again. Is there are other parts that should be replaced or checked out once a 172 has done this amount of miles? Maybe springs?

Hopefully the tires will help improve things...:0)

I wouldnt bother replacing things unless their needed.

Iv done over 100k and it feels as good as what it did when it had 20k on the clock!

I'd get the mounts checked and worn ones replaced.

Wishbones ARB bushes etc are somehting to check as well.

Springs should be fine dampers are the ones to check.

Mines done 55k jus was driving home from work other day, total loss of power but managed to get it home.

took it down to renault on the weekend and apparently it had blown its engine mounts and needed some pipe replacing.

got quoted £251 fitted is this a good price???

its a 2002 52 if that helps

How can you tell if the mounts are fecked, cos IMO my engine moves loads but it drives fine.

My mk2 172 is now on over 81k and running well [touches wood]

makes a awful grinding sound app it is the exhaust rubbing on the sub frame, because of the engine sheering its mounts

got the bill from renault £400

this was to replace the
top mounts
fuel line
tourque bar
rear mounts

according to renault it has sheared its mounts
