172 knocking noise (engine)

i have a 2002 172 which has done 36k miles. Once it has warmed up the engine makes a knocking/tapping noise from the engine bay. The sounds is coming from the side where the oil filer cap is (left hand side, next to the belt).
Any ideas to what this could be?

Water pump? Cam belt flappin round in cover? Tensioner bearing?
