172 lump into a valver

  williams 2 turbo
ive finally got a bit of wokshop space available, and due to recent surgery have had nothing to do but come up with ideas on what to do to my new valver. bodywork is gonna stay standard this time, but ive been offered a 172 lump for a reasonable price with everything else need for a transplant. so a couple of questions.

1. is it gonna be worth doing, ie will i really notice that much difference, and

2. has anyone done this on here before? ie what problems have you had?

many thanks steve.

You need custom mounts to make it work or go to throttle bodies or have a big dent in the bonney (cutout etc).
The wiring well the easy option is to transplant a whole 172 wiring looms etc.
A Williams engine is a better idea IMO.

in a mk1 and if your not going mental with the engine spec, i dont see a point in the hassle for a 172 engine.

I was about to say, in my uneducated opinion, that a Willy/megane lump will do 99% of what a 172 lump will do, unless your going to silly power outputs.

Would be a cool conversion though, bit more of a one off - There are loads of 'hybrids' knocking about. Might even be the first one in the country.

im sure someone had pictures of one up which was in france or somewhere and the engine bay looked very very tight, virgin like, lol

  172 cup'd extreme
for similar money / effort you could have a kick ass willie engine with throttle bodies spank a 172 anyday

the reason i asked, is that ive seen a 172 lump in a 5 turbo shell, and i know valver engines can also fit in the 5, so wondered if the 172 engine would fit in a clio? many thanks for your replys so far. steve

i think it would be a quality conversion you can use the mounts of another renault but as said due to clearence issues TB's would be an easier option, all i can say is watch this space
