172 is cheaper on insurance mate and looks pretty similar to the 182 apart from the few minor differences. plus 172s are avail second hand for cheaper than a 182... Plus ive read a few dodgy 182 reports on here matey!
really dont think its worth it for the few body mods and extra 10bhp. Reckon a better deal is to tune yours up to contend with a 182 mate...keep saving for a V6 LOL!!!
to drive;they are the same car-there wasnt any difference that I could tell in performance or handling they are the same car. I must admit thow I noticed as standard the 182 sounds louder inside than the 172.
At end of day its entirely your decision. Any clio 2.0 16 valve motor is a good en
Coming from someone who used to own a Mk2 172 and went for a 182 i can say there is a difference in the two cars. The 182s suspension is noticeably stiffer than the 172, turn in is sharper and the grip levels during cornering are also higher. Granted there are few exterior differences but that is not why i bought the car; i like the way it looked anyway. As mentioned above it is slightly noiseier in the cabin but not overly so. As for performance it is definately quicker. At about 5000rpm you get a real kick from the engine that, while present on the 172, i found was not as pronounced. Whatever you choose as 182sport said they are both fantastic cars and you will be very happy either way.
Depends if you want to spend the extra cash, I had the same choice at the start of the year and went for the 182, glad i did now as all the reports in the motoring press have given it excellent reviews. I prefer the Dark wheels and the twin exhausts as well.
