172 is cheaper on insurance mate and looks pretty similar to the 182 apart from the few minor differences. plus 172s are avail second hand for cheaper than a 182... Plus ive read a few dodgy 182 reports on here matey!

yeah ive read quite a few commetns about the 182 .

personally i own a 172 in blue and am very pleased about it.

just curious as to what other users on here think ?

i havent bothered upgrading to a 182 even though its in my budget as im really happy with the 172.

really dont think its worth it for the few body mods and extra 10bhp. Reckon a better deal is to tune yours up to contend with a 182 mate...keep saving for a V6 LOL!!! ;)

lol dont get me started on renault !

gave renault ilford a call to purchase one of their v6s !

three calls initially, then another two and still the sales guy couldnt get his act together with a price !

had to complain to the dealer principal in the end !

talk about a fight to part with the money !

how difficult is it to sell a car !

lol:p

Ive driven both.The only difference youll notice;

exterior:twin pipes and different set of alloys

interior:white/grey seatbelts on 182

to drive;they are the same car-there wasnt any difference that I could tell in performance or handling they are the same car. I must admit thow I noticed as standard the 182 sounds louder inside than the 172.

At end of day its entirely your decision. Any clio 2.0 16 valve motor is a good en

I HAD SIMILAR PROBS WEN I TRIED TO UPGRADE MY OLD R Reg TO MY CURRENT 2002 JOBBIE...IN END JUST FOUND A BETTER DEALER BIT FURTHER FROM HOME!

lol i even was told the dealer didnt know the service intervals on a v6 ?

i mean if renault dont who do ?

question ?

lol

not having driven the 172, can someone compare the handling diff between the 172 and 182 cup susp?

gf needs a new car, likes my 182 but wants to spend 172 money.

Coming from someone who used to own a Mk2 172 and went for a 182 i can say there is a difference in the two cars. The 182s suspension is noticeably stiffer than the 172, turn in is sharper and the grip levels during cornering are also higher. Granted there are few exterior differences but that is not why i bought the car; i like the way it looked anyway. As mentioned above it is slightly noiseier in the cabin but not overly so. As for performance it is definately quicker. At about 5000rpm you get a real kick from the engine that, while present on the 172, i found was not as pronounced. Whatever you choose as 182sport said they are both fantastic cars and you will be very happy either way.

if i lived somewhere different, i would have a 182 no doubts, but seeing a s i live in scumbag alley, ill stick with me 172 at the moment!

didnt notice any extra kick in the 182 at all- and didnt reach any faster speeds on my test road-just noticed the noise in the cabin which was good

Quite happy with what ive got, wont be changing for the 182 even when the 172 gets old and tired.

Not quite sure what im gonna get next but I am going to be getting a flat so it wont be anything expensive.

182 would be cool but I cant justify the extra money, Im just waiting til Ive done around 10k then its IK and chip and over 180bhp anyway.

Depends if you want to spend the extra cash, I had the same choice at the start of the year and went for the 182, glad i did now as all the reports in the motoring press have given it excellent reviews. I prefer the Dark wheels and the twin exhausts as well.
