172 or 182

Hi guys first post on here of no doubt many,

how do I establish if my 2003 clio sport is a 172 or 182? As I have bought it with a blown engine and there seems to be confusion as to which it is?

It'll be a 172 if it's 2003. 172s have a hidden exhaust whereas 182 tailpipes are showing - that's just one way of telling.

172 on an 2003 plate 182 wasnt made in 2003 .

Both engines are the same, 182 manifold is preferred
