Within the next couple of weeks I'm hoping to shift the 1.6 and replace it with something else, ive always wanted an RS and at the minute its most likely il be looking at a ph1. My budget is around 2k which should see me get a decent ph1 or a less well looked after ph2. However, other than these two choices are there any other good cars out there around this budget? I really cant think there is a better car to be bought within my budget.

Also, hows the reliability on say a ph1 with FSH? Other than consumable parts, which are not a problem to replace to me. Ive heard a few things from different people saying the ph1 was the better car, not only for driving, but mechanically. Advice and views appreciated.

Depends what you're after really.

If you want a small hot hatch, the RS is probably about the best bang/buck out there. VTS/106GTi bit smaller but not much slower. Civics are more expensive and a little larger...

However, there's a hell of a lot of cars out there for not a lot of cash:

My Impreza was ~£2k, £500 remap and you're heading towards 300 horses. ///M3's are getting into silly prices now but obviously runnings costs are still hilarious if you're under 30/not called Sheik.

As I said, it totally depends what you want out of a car !

I went from a 1.2 to a 1.4 then to a 2.0L. I love my cliosport. Im sure you will love them.

A lad on here has got a mint one for sale quite local to you. If you could stretch your budget a bit you would get a great bargain.

Sam!

That looks very nice. Ive had my ph1 14 months and its been spot on. Initially had a couple of issues, ironed them out and its been fine. Which for an 11 year old FRENCH car is an achievment lol. I dont alot of miles so if your the same get the ph1. If you do fair milage id be inclind to get a newer car imo

Yeah mate i dont do many miles at all, so im not worried about an older car. The cup is exactly what im looking for to be honest, its clean and looks to have been looked after to a very high standard, i can see it going quick though so may have to see if i can stretch the budget. Also i hadnt thought of a 106 gti.

Ive never driven a 106 gti but they are supposed to be very good tbh. Id still stick with the idea of a cup. I would make enquiries into the one above if i were you.
