172 overheating in traffic

temp normally sits under halfway, but past few days since it's been freezing the temp has been getting well upto the staggered red bits and the fan isn't cutting in. Once moving again it's fine though.

Fan is controlled from my OMEX afaik, any ideas?

can you turn the fan by hand with the engine off ?

I had a fan melt to my radiator once.

Themostat may have gone. Normal cause if the fan isn't cutting in as it should be tellling the fan to cut in when above a certain temperature.

Buy the part yourself, and either take to garage or fit it yourself. I've done it twice on different cars and was easy, but not sure on the how easy it is on the Clio though.

Thermostat is easy peasy on the 1*2's. As you look at the engine when you open the bonett the thermostat housing is straight in front of you

Couple of 10mm bolts iirc and its off.

Its on the right hand side of the engine, IIRC.

Dont forget to buy 2-3 litres antifreez with the thermostat, when you remove the thermostat you will loose 2-3 litres liquid from coolant.
