172 performance parts

Where can I get some real performance parts for my 172 online which will give me real powergains. I was thinking along the line of new cams, rods, pistons, trhrottle bodies, injectors etc.

Then there is always turbo but I fear that would be a tad pricy although Im very interested to see how the K-tec turbo will be.

Oops, was gonna reply to this but went offline.

Anyway, as far as steel H or I section rods go, youll have to get some made up for roughly 600 quid +VAT. Cams are available but not a very large selection and nothing really that wild due to the chillcast, hollow blanks they use, not everybody can get their hands on them. Piston, whats wrong with the OE ones, swap to forged items and itll provide no power gain but run rougher when cold. Throttle bodies, if your looking for a kit youll have to wait, but the manifold is available for DCOE flange bodies which cost about 150+ for the bare bodies so you can build up you own system no problem, injectors, also available at higher flow rates, but if you swap to throttle bodies you wont be limited to the OE ones and lucas/bosche are the normal choice.

you got the money then you can buy the parts.

Is anyone actually looking to produce a throttle body kit?
Seems like the way to go?
Is that the way to get big gains without going turbo?

Kit, why do you need a kit though, all the parts are out there....and its not alot to collect.

Thanks for the reply BenR, good to read from people who knows his buisness.

The only reason I mentioned all this is because Ive seen all this available for Hondas.

Im not quite sure what to go for but its nice to know whats available so I can see what I can get with my budget. Since I live in Iceland I dont have much to choose from unless I can buy it online and have it sent to me.

Looks like it might be a while until I cant get my hands on some kits so the mild mods might have to do for now.

Best search for some threads there are quite a few parts out there depends how much you want to pay and what you want to gain.

Exhaust and intake cams have been done (exhust worth 8hp apparently) the intake one is from the cup racers and leads to drivabilty difficulties at low revs so unless your despirate for a few hp forget the intake ones

Decat cost about £100 with sensor connections.

Tony cart has a bigger TB on his car but itsa one of best ask him where he got it.

As for intake normal box seems the best so get a panel filter and cold air intake for the best results.

Chips not worth much maybe 8hp superchips do one and there the Rsport ECU replacemtn which is popular but little gains.

Loads of exhaust choice.

THe cup racers run std cams, the larger TB iirc was from renault sport as part of a racing series where it was allowed.

I own a smt6 piggy back computer from Perfect Power which I just havent fitted yet so I dont need a chip. I also have a Remus back box and am going for a decat soon so the mild mod department is covered.

What were the cams that tonycart was on about making his car difficult to drive round town?

the cliocup series is the same worldwide, but clios have been entered in other open racing series, primarily touring cars. One was in the BTCC with about 220-240bhp which isnt that much.

and had endless problems.........more of the wheels falling off variety! hahaha

250bhp, no problem, but youll need to junk a bit and do a bit lol.
