Ive tried a few and Ive found that if you want improved airflow: an espace or standard airbox with renault filter and improved cold air feeds is best.
it does. CAF position etcSurely it depends on the car?

Agree with this 100% Especially with a PH1 airbox save some money and just upgrade to an ITG panel filter and better cold air feeds.
If you want a deeper induction note get an espace v6 box which is the same shape with one big inlet instead of two. There is a guide on this in the guides section of the forum.
Matched Inlets will give you much better gains than an indution kit.
Airbox is crap, how many times ...... :clown: :quiet:
If you dont belive me theres a test with open IK vs Airbox vs Viper in one of the Ford mags that confirms it also.
Viper is better than the air box with panel, proven

So dont waste £400 in a ITG Max and just get the filter? As for feeds whats best to get then?
But if i was planning a remap sometime in the future would i be better off geting an IK or going down the DIY route???
the pipe in front of the 2 inlets does is that part of the setup? i.e does it run to the drivers side to draw in even more air?
So do you run all this into the standard airbox with an ITG filter and a samco hose from the box to the engine then?
To summarise save your money for getting your inlets matched and have some fun going down the DIY route!!

My proof of this is that when I had my car remapped on a RR with standard airbox with better CAFs and samco induction pipe, it gained just 1bhp when the airbox was removed. I can't see how these aftermarket filters could achieve better results than a filter free unrestricted airflow.
Just for info I have a phase 1 with an ITG filter in the satndard airbox using some 70mm ducting. Feels stronger in midrange than standard and sounds like this! http://s281.photobucket.com/albums/kk224/OllieC172/Clio 1/?action=view¤t=MOV01080.flv
Hope that gives you something to go on!
It was properly remapped without the airbox to "simulate" what I would get if fitted with an induction kit and it would be the freest flowing filter since there were no filters attached. Heat soak wasn't an issue since the car was sitting in front of huge funnel that channeled cold air from outside courtesy of a couple of huge fans. The guys at perfect touch (www.perfect-touch.co.uk) know what they're doing since they tune and race their own skylines.

Cheers ollie, sounds sweet! now if someone would just post a vid n some info with a ITG Maxogen i'll be sorted! lol
