172 ph1 vs supercar army, Gran Turismo Events 2011 Zandvoort

  172 ph1
Zandvoort trackday by Gran Tursimo Events was really good.

My Clio really did not fit in well with all the expensive cars present. The next cheapest car was a E46 M3 on R888s, driven by an Englishman who at first sight was Hugh Grant, but actually was just some bloke that has been in amateur racing for the past 20 years. He also happened to be one of, if not THE fastest car there today.

There were a lot of photographers there so some decent pictures are to come, in the meantime some crappy phone camera shots.

Some nice cars and tail to be seen in the pitlane.

Instructor got me from 2:22 down to 2:12, was quite happy with that because the E46 M3 managed a best of 2:03.

Unfortunately Harry's Laptimer refused to record most of my laps including the fastest one, but it did manage to record some 2:13s with passengers.

Just found out the English guy in the M3 was a national tarmac rally champion, no wonder he was fast.

Earlier session when I didn't know the track, some nice cars out there.

As disk temperature was up to 500 degrees C after 5 to 6 laps, I felt that the Clio was in desperate need of some better brake ducts.

8cm aluminium ducting was fitted onto a 10 to 8cm plastic adaptor piece with duck tape, stuffed inside the original fog light mounts, and then installed after remounting the horn. Might put in a small deflector plate later

The RX7 was probably a cheaper car than the E46 M3 ;)

Looks like a fun event, well driven.
