172 phase 1 airbag resister trick, possible or not?

I've seen threads on here with phase 2 models getting rid of the airbag light with resisters is this same technique possible with the phase 1 model.
i did take my car to a "specialist" with the clip tool to have to switched off properly but a good few quid and an hour later I was told it was not possible.
if anyone has done this any info would be great.

Sounds like said specialist didn't know what to do, or an airbag has triggered.

No airbag has triggered I also had a spare airbag ecu from my old Clio that I know was fine.
i won't be going back to that garage anyway!

I failed with my ph1. In the end I just cut a wire on the airbag ecu. No more lights but I have removed all the airbags

But does it flash up with the ignition for the mot

No idea. Probably not, but it passed the mot. I have no airbags so they can hardly fail it if the light doesn't come on and off

Just like to bring this up again, has anyone got rid of the aig bag, serv light on a phase 1 Clio 172 I spent a couple of hours today with no joy all the restistors have a solid connection.
does anyone know if I could send the aig bag ecu to someone with clip to sort it that way?

I have the exact same issue on my ph2 , 1 resistor on each airbag connection and still the light comes on ! no idea why ???

I know the same issue was had on my car when my brother and step dad put the new seats in. But They put a resistor in and the light doesnt show up and the MOT was passed.
I am about to change my steering wheel for a racing style deep dished suede one and will encounter the same problem. But a quick search reveals its a 3.3ohm resistor found here http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?726221-New-Steering-Wheel&highlight=airbag+resistor

My ph1 172 was ok with a 3.3ohm resistor mod, don't forgetcto bend over the ends a couple of times to get a solid connection

What about solder and heat shrink it in? Surely that will give a better connection

Shouldn't really be needed, also what if you wanted to go back to standard when you sell it ;-)
