172 power steering making a groaning noise

My mk1 172 steering makes a groaning/creaking type noise when turning it at standstill/low speed. Any idea whats causing it, is it a common problem.

is there enough fluid in it?

Ive been told it could be the springs that are making the noise when turning & may need greasing. Anybody else had this problem. Will I have to take the springs off do do this.

My car has recently started doing this. It only does it when very cold for some reason and goes away within a minute. It does it only while I'm turning the wheel, whether the car is stationary or moving. Reported it once to renault, they changed a few bushes and wotnot but I still have it. My car is going back in again.
