172 Rear Wiper fault

Hi, the rear wiper on my Ph1 2001 Clio 197 has a mind of it's own. It usually comes on, but only by moving the switch right back to the spray setting. It also comes on sometimes when I just switch the front wipers on! The main problem is, though, that it stops in random places on the screen, and rarely where it is meant to! Any ideas would be welcome, hoping it's not the UCH unit, and just something simple, like a relay? Cheers....
