172 Rocker Cover

right guys i was doing a few bits on the clio today and noticed that the rocker cover gasget is leaking. been reading up in previous threads and it seems quite common. normally a rocker cover gasget is a simple job but on the 172 it looks a bit more complicated! is there a gasget you can buy or do you just use a sealent?

how hard is it ect? what do i have to remove? just the inlet mani? or more??

just remove the inlet mani and sensors,and the ht leads(number them!)be carefull with the bolts on the mani at the back! as i found out! also the inlet pipe from the air box.other than that i think its an easy job mate. how many miles have you done since your last oil change?spark plugs?my i suggest you change them while its all off!

not a DIY job unless you have the specialist tools

no gasket, its silicone gasket seal stuff

wow wow do not remove the rocker cover/ cam cover, the vvt and cams are spring loaded in, the presure of the cover keeps it all in. make sure you know what ur doin as its a big mess if it goes wrong when u dont know where the parts go

well i have built a few engines now so i should be fine doing it. does the cambelt need to be removed then? and what speacialists tools are needed?

what a joke! just to take the rocker cover off! renault really fcuked this one up! lol!

there are no cam carriers, the rocker cover does that!!

The pulleys need to be removed before the cam cover will come off, which means retiming them....and that needs the renault tools.

ive got the same problem & have come to the same conclusion, waight untill i have the cambelt done & prob. have cams done as well!!!
