172 Rumbling noise when braking

  Mazda 2, MX5 Mk2.5 Sport
The last couple of weeks I've noticed a bit of a rumbling noise coming from the passenger side front wheel when braking to a halt from high speed (ie 100 plus). Anyone got any ideas what it is?

I know the pads are fairly worn so I'm hoping its just that but I've got a bad feeling the discs slighty warped or maybe even a worn wheel bearing.

The cars not done 16,000 miles yet, surely disks/bearings last longer than that.

have you checked for play in the wheel?
it could be a number of things does it do it when you turn hard left?
have you checked your pads and disks for wear, if it was a warped disk you would feel it through the brake pedal 'pulsing'

Needs new discs and pads. Change the fluid as well, im sure that's all. Mine do the same when at the eng of life, change then and it goes away.

Is it best to change both at the same time or can you fit new pads then fit new disks at a later date?

You can fit them in whatever order you want best to chnage disks and pads togther though as otherwise you have to take everything off that you've put back on when you did the other job.
I think the best idea is supposed to be to bed new disks to old pads but there no point IMO then again I'm lazy.

This would be my first call - new discs and pads.

Second call would be the calipers - mine made some funny noises when the slider bushes had gone. They chattered a bit over the bumps too.

cost - £100 on exchange IIRC.
