Yesterday I left my car with my local dealer at 8am in the morning, giving them more than enough time to deal with the 5 things I wanted looking into.
These being, in order of importance:
Knocking from the suspension when cornering
Passenger seat runners loose (again)
Vibration from the centre of the dash
Steering off centre
Choppy running when cold
Out of the 5 the first two were the ones I actually cared about, but while it was there I figured Id get the lot looked at.
At 3pm yesterday they called to say they couldnt find any of the faults and I could I explain how to replicate them. Which I did. (Why wait till so late to look at my car). Anyway, they replaced some bits on the nearside suspension hoping to have cured the knock. When I collected the car, the seat runners had been done, and the knock cured.
Driving home, the seat is fine, the car feels positively German built without that rattle! But the knocking is still there.
So......this morning I went back and explained its still doing it. The service manager came out with me, and the first corner I came to I get it to knock (I also draw his attention to the dash vibration), he doesnt seem surprised, what with it being a known fault on 172/Cups. Unfortunately, mine has now been repaired twice, but the repair not taken.
After some sweet talking from me they have taken the car back today to have a go at fixing it again. If they fail there is nothing else they can do but ask Renault UK for help. All they can do is apply the fixes they are given.
Fingers crossed its sorted this time.
At least my exhaust goes on tomorrow, that should at cheer me up.
Just thought Id waste 5 minutes typing this.
