172 Temp sensor

My outdoor temp gradually starting going up and up recently, then when it goto 60 degrees outside, the display starting flickering and eventually just went off. Is this just a simple job of changing the temp sensor? any idea of how much they are and whether its a DIY or dealers job.

just buy a used n/s complete mirror of me .... £30 + vat ( the temp sensor is built into it )
