172 turbo?

Wrong lines mate.

There is a solenoid placed between a suitable pressure source (comp housing on mine and yours) and it simply remains closed untill the boost pressure taken at the reference point (inlet manifold) hits the preset level. Once it reaches this point the solenoid opens allowing boost pressure to operate the actuator.

Ah I see. So essentially say you had a 1 bar actuator but wanted to run 1.2 bar you could keep the solenoid closed until the inlet manifold pressure reaches 0.2 bar then the 1 bar actuator could be made to do the rest? Or similarly you could just use the solenoid to keep the actuator closed all the way up to 1.2 bar if it's capable?

Yes mate, the solenoid would open at 1.2 bar and obviously because the 1.2 bar exceeds 1bar it will open the actuator immediately.

However the larger actuator you fit the less flexibility you have with your boost controller.

Once you fit a 1 bar actuator the lowest boost setting will be 1 bar. Which is probably the reason Andy i looking to fit a 10 psi actuator to yours so that you can adjust it between 10 - 20 psi using the boost controller.
