172 unknown part

Ok I am doing a little coversion with a 172 lump and am wondering what this is for ? As I do not have one for my conversion and is it needed?
I am talking about the bit with the red top in the centre of the pic.

do u mean the red cut off switch???

its an intertia switch. cuts the fuel pump.

just bare in mind if you wire the fuel pump via the ecu/relay on the 172 loom it wont put the power to the gtt loom.
