172 Xenons

Hello, does anyone know what type of bulbs go into the 172 xenon ballasts? One has blew and it does not say what it is. I'd imagine it would be a 8000k?

Factory is a 4500 d2s bulb

Also my bets are on ballast/ignitor, generally xenons will discolour and fail over time (go blue/greeny) as there is no filament to 'blow' unless there's a crack in bulb

No there's no crack in the bulb. Balls. I've found the bulbs quite cheap for a pair which are 8000k so was hoping I could use them.

8000K will look purple and have a lower light output compared to 5000K which is as close to pure white as you can get.

Hid-directs, iirc I got 6000k, nice white, not that blue
