i know this has probably been asked millions of times but whats quicker.

ive been told the 182 has a more powerful engine but weighs more there for the 172 been slighlty quicker or the same. whats actually true??

Not worth talking about, because there is nothing in it, i have 182, my brother has a 172 nothing at all woth talking about.

But on the other hand our PH-1 > both PH-1 all the way.

Just to add, i beleive on paper the Clio Cup is quickest @ 6.7 - 60

And the slowest Renault Sport is the 172 ff @ 7.0 - 60

But if you believe in figures stated without engines been run in and all that gash then you will beleive anything.

Theres a lad on here with a Black Phase one and he reckons his will do it in 6.1 (IIRC) his has got 90 odd thousand mile on the dial so its neither here nor there. Russ i think his name is?!?

pretty much the same car anyway tbh, just depends what you want in a car.
if you want luxuries get a ff182 or 172. if you want cloth seats, no aircon etc get a 172 cup. if you want to pay less and don't mind having an older model get a ph1 172.

Do we have a 0-60 for a 172, as i didnt think there was such a thing as a 172 FF

Down to the driver tbh although according to evo the 172 is 1.4 seconds to 100 slower than the 182.

But on some twisties or on track it would be completely down to driver.

Although same driver cup packed 182 would be quicker.

Average 182 will about 5bhp more than a 172.

Sod all difference.

I've been in a ph1 172, ph2 172 (driven), 172 cup and a 182 and IMO, they all felt as rapid as eachother.

The less weight might help a bit in the corners, but I'm going for a ph2 172 as I want an RS, can't afford a 182 and prefer the looks and the extra bit of luxury of the phase 2. Seems to be very little in it from what I've seen/heard/read.
