182 -> 197

anyone went from a cupped up ff 182 to a 197? just was out last night in the 182 and with roads quiet just opened the 182 up and blasted about, chucked it round some really tight corners/bends and sad to say had a smile on my face!

am thinking 197 but bit concerned its not going to handle the same?

Seb famously upgraded to a 197 from a cupped 182 and says he loves it.

RE: Handling - Based on my test drive it turns in sharper, has more grip and less body roll. Definitely a better tarmac weapon. The steering leaves a lot to be desired though compared to the 182, but the steering WHEEL is so much better that it actually makes it a better driving experience overall IMO.

197 > 182 in every way apart from steering feel and low down urge.

Brown.

182 with some apex -40 springs is another level to a 197....roundabouts are like light bends.... when i test drove a 197 i had springs on for a bout 4 month.... i wasnt impressed with the 197 compared to mine with springs.....but without springs just standard for standard, the 197 is much stiffer, 182 with normal or cup springs do have alot of body roll....so if you consider forking out cash for a 197.....try 80pound worth of lowering springs,,,,,,, you will soon see the light and keep your 182 !!!

What?

Erm...

The 197 ride is far more supple than a standard 182.

I've never tried the Apex prings on the 182 although I came close to having them fitted. However, I'm not sure I'd bother messing about with the 197 chassis as it's superb as standard. Perhaps some cheapo springs would improve normal cornering in Milton Keynes, but I don't fancy getting tipped into a hedge on the proper twisty stuff ;)
