Black Gold 182FF
I recently fitted a universal air filter to my 182, and it sounded and went really well. But after doing 600 miles my "serv","oil",and "stop" lights came on last night on my way home from work, causing me to slow down to less than 40mph on the motorway. On inspection the engine oil was below the lower mark on the dipstick. The left side exhaust was boiling hot and was dribbeling a black ink like liquid. The right side exhaust was cold and looked dry. My car had it's 12k service last month and I have only covered 2500k since. However the engine oil is now empty. Is this a filter problem?
I put the origional air box back on today, filled the engine oil just above the limit and took it for a 300 mile drive and it seems ok. There does not seem to be any leaks around the engine, and both exhausts look ok, a bit black though (Almost like it's burning rich). Has anyone else had the same problem when upgrading their air filters / induction kits. Also, which induction kits would you recommend for better sound and performance on a standard 182. I will not be re-fitting this universal induction kit as I think this is what caused the initial problem.
