182 Air filter upgrade

  182

Im thinking of up grading the panel type air filter in my 182 to a K&N, etc. Does any one know if the fitment is the same as the Mk II 172, or do I need a 182 specific filter (which I probably cant get yet). I know an induction kit is the way to go, but I dont want to do that while its still under warranty. Anyone recommend a good panel filter, and what BHP increase can I expect?

Its the same airbox on the mk2 172, Cup & 182 mate, but youd be better off with an ITG panel filter...

Gains wise, nothing major from a panel filter, maybe a couple extra, but it should breath a bit easier.

I have been looking to. Think all the panel filters for the 172 mk2 fit the 182.

Pipercross - £38
ITG - £45

Going of the info I have received you will probably see no difference what so ever in performance / sound. The only thing is you might save some money on services as they wont have to replace the panel filter. + you will probably get away without telling the insurance

Standard induction kit seems to be a no-no because there is to much under bonnet heat from the lump so gains are minimal + insurance issue

Viper / BMC seems the best bet but your looking at £170-£250 for this, should get between 4-7 bhp. + think you need to tell insurance (basically if you had a bad crash its not like you could whip it off quick).

I think 172 & 182 panel filters are same, Everyone in past has recommended ITG.
