182 airbag in 1.2 16v

hi guys ive got 182 seats in my 2002 1.2, was at renault earlier with the airbag light on. they said that the passenger airbag was giving the fault signal but they wouldn't touch it because its not the original, nor could replacing the computer help. i thought maybe the airbags weren't compatible but the drivers side is fine, it isnt a wiring problem either. any ideas or will i just put up with the warning light?cheers

has the airbag previously been deployed and the seat sewn back up??

i dont think so fred, i was asked that but it seems like the airbag was fine

More then likely it would have been deployed and sewn back up. Common issue with buying them as most are crashed cars!

Otherwise it IS a wiring issue. Simply getting the connectors wrong etc will cause the light to remain on.

Are you certain the wiring is correct? As the looms need cutting as they are not a straight swap.

yea well some kid from renault said they were grand and i just thought it was strange that the drivers side was fine. are there any tell tale signs that the seat has been re-stitched?

Obviously look at the sticthing! Its never perfect when it has been sewn back together.

There may also be some tear marks.

Only other way to tell is to strip the seat down by taking off the leather covers (which you have to do to replace airbag)

upon extreme closeup i think it may have been stitched!! this is gonna call for a bit of investigation
