182 alarm question

Should the 182 alarm self arm and self lock if it is a Thatcham ll alarm. Mine does neither and there is nothing in the "comprehensive" manual to help me. Does everybody elses alarm self arm and can it be set to self lock.

The Alarm should re-arm if you unlock but do not open a door within a period of time. (Think it is 30 secs).

Self lock, Depends what you mean? You can set it to lock the doors when you go over 4 MPH. Hold down the central door locking for a few seconds until you hear a beep.

Its a Cat one alarm.

I think there all Cobras (assuming its not an aftermarket one).

Not much realy you need to know about it.

The sensors are usually set up to sensitively so they go off all the time when itsalarmed (Renault will fix that underwarently)

The autolocking can be turned on and off with the correct alarm equipment sounds like yours just isnt set up correctly get it to Renault they should be able to do it.

If i leave the car unlocked shouldnt the alarm arm itself after a set period, i thought this was needed for thatcham approval.

My previous clifford alarm would set the immobilser after 20 secs and the alarm after a further 30 secs(if the doors were closed) without you needing to press the remote. It could also be programmed to automatically lock the doors if required.

I think im right in saying that once locked and you de activate the alarm it locks itself after about 60 seconds, this is to stop the car being unlocked by accident.

I dont think it locks itself apart from when ive just mentioned.

  Ford Fiesta

as above.

thatcham cat 2 is for immbilizers, the led on the dash in clio case, to go cat 1 you need a thatcham approved alarm to combine with the cat 2 immobilzer to create cat 1 overall.

what if you unlock the car get something out of it then leave the car for afew mins and dont lock it/forget to lock it, im sure it does not relock its self then.. i think this is what he is asking

Once its unlocked it will arm itself if the door is not opened...if the door is opened after its unlocked then its not an accident and it remains unlocked.

If you imagine that youve pressed the button on the keyfob in your pocket in a car park, and dont open any doors then it will relock/auto re-arm. If you unlock it, then open a door and walk off after closing it, it will stay unlocked as the system will know that youve opened it, and so will not auto re-arm. its better if you unlock it in the evening as the light should be on to assume that you want to get back into the car, therefore youd know that the locks were not reactivated. If you want to set up the RAID (Renault Anti Intruder Device) then turn ignition off, then hold down central locking button for 4 seconds while switching on the ignition, you should hear a confirmation beep which should then allow it to lock after 6mph.

Ah, this was puzzling me as well. I assumed it would arm N seconds after shutting the drivers door (cliffords Ive had did this).

So, It wont lock the doors or arm unless you fail to open a door having unlocked the car?

I wondered why there was no "valet mode" in the instructions

I am sorry for any confusion but the situation i am talking about is when i turn off the ignition, get out the car, close the door but forget to press the keyfob to lock/set alarm, should the alarm arm itself. Can it be programmed to lock the doors automatically in the same situation.
