182... and it's various Cup Packs

You may have seen my thread a couple of weeks ago asking if I could get a decent 172 for £3000. Well I've since scrubbed that idea as I now want a 182.

I've only sat in one so far but I liked it and I'm sure I'll love the driving experience so I'm not too worried there.

The thing I can't find a lot of info on is the Cup packs. I know there was a standard 182, then a 182 Cup. I also know that you could buy two Cup packs for a standard 182.

Can somebody please explain what both Cup Packs included. I've rang about several 182's and none of the sellers have had a clue what I'm talking about. I want to be able to tell if there's any kind of Cup pack installed on the cars I'm going to see this weekend as I'd really like the Cup suspension pack at least

1) Splitter at the front + bigger spoiler. Splitter is usually missing as it's broken.
2) Anthracite wheels + Cup suspension which is 4mm lower.

Avoid the 182 Cup. 182 with both packs is what you want.

Great thanks

Is there any other way of telling if it has the Cup suspension pack... My paranoid side is thinking that the grey wheels could have just been bought off eBay ion the past and I doubt I'd be able to measure if the car's 4mm lower.

cup packs consisted of anthracite wheels, exalto tyres, lower suspension, splitter and spoiler. i imagine there split into visual and performance so splitter and spoiler cup pack 1. never seen a sport with just 1 before.

You can measure the hub spacing to be certain. Not sure exactly what the different measurements are, but have a search and you shall find.

Both packs were fairly cheap, £300ish I think, so most have them.

Cup pack = 60mm between the nub/suspension leg mounts. You can only measure with wheel off though

i could afford either a ff didnt even enter my mind, no marketing involved. had a 172 cup aswell.

It served it's purpose though. Lightweight special edition.

The 182 Cup is a parts bin special, with the only 'gain' being the drop in price.

Except the chairs are even worse than the 182Cup, and it has no AC, which means you melt in the summer, and steam up in the winter.

But kept some 'nice' details....

you know, the sill plates, proper RS melty wheel, alloy pedals. Oh, maybe not :)

the original documents for mine say,

cup Suspension pack and Cup spoiler pack.

so at a guess, cup suspension = wheel and suspension and cup spoiler = spoiler and splitter.

Well sorry to shock you but i had a 182 and a 197, and the 197 is better. Sorry, my dads is bigger than yours?

Driven both and wouldn't say it was better. They both have their good and bad points and are about the same speed track wise. 197 is easier to drive, but no where near as fun

The hole stigma with the 182 cup was the fact it was only 20kg lighter. Whereas the 172 was something stupid like 100. It was a poor attempt from Renault. Still a fab car though :approve:
