182 auto headlights, over-ride?

  XC90, 330d, Trophy’s
Is there a way to over-ride the auto headlights on the 182?
The objective is to have them only coming on when I chose to turn them on.

Is this possible atall?

Cheers

Unfortunatley we are away from home with the car for a few days and the manual is at home.

Cheers.

Turn the ignition on, turn the headlights on and off till you hear a beep.

mine are off, when auto lights are on and you go to flash someone as they have given way or whatever the main beam is 'one touch' but with the lights set manually you can flash as normal lol

Not sure I get you.

If I need to flash someone it works fine with Auto on.

And it means I am approximately 0.5% lazier when driving. Almost a full 1% if Auto-wipers are set too.

its hard to explain, but when you have the lights on manual you have to pull the high beam stalk towards you until it clicks and then high beam stays on, on auto i find that i only flick it as i were going to flash my lights and it stays on, then i have to flick the stalk again for them to go off, so i end up dazzling everyone "/
might just be mine lol

Why would you want Auto off anyway, just curious.

because its rapidly becoming a track car (and within a few weeks that will be its only purpose)
it now has a big black strip across the top of the windscreen, so everytime you turn the ignition on it thinks it is dark and put the lights on, even during bright sunshine ;)

and cheers to everyone else, ill give it a go shortly.

and i do agree with the flashing someone, you have to click them on and then click them off rather than just a flick of the stalk.

Cheers :)

Well, that'sa good thing, lets poeple know you're coming up on them and they'd best jump out of the way :)

BTCC boys used to use their full beam all the time to clear traffic

Just to hijack this thread......is it possible to run with the light always on, and have them turn off when you turn the engine off?

If you leave your lights switched on I think the central locking will turn them off after so many seconds. Could easily be wrong but it's worth a try

I know what you mean too, same reason my auto lights are switched off.
